This is why so many people choose British sports cars to be their dream car. Here are some examples. Check out our article about Caterham 7.

MG M–Type

The MG M-Type British sports car is a classic. Its unique styling, sleek lines and distinctive styling make it an instant classic. First produced in 1936, this car was a great success, despite the fact that the MGB was not very affordable. It quickly became one of the most popular MGs up to this point, but it was not the first British sports car. These are some facts about the MG M-Type.

In 1924, the company was formed as Morris Garages. MG was sold in 1935 to Morris Motors, a subsidiary of the Nuffield Organisation. British Motor Corporation absorbed MG and British Leyland absorbed it in 1968. After the war, MG produced two-seat saloons, the TA/B Midget and the TD Midget. The Austin Motor Company merged the Morris Motors subsidiary, ending the company's production in the ensuing ten years.

Triumph TR6

The TR6 is one of the most iconic British sports cars, built between the late 1960s and early 1970s. It is the final TR series car. Its single-curve body design was intended to be as fast and competitive as the Austin-Healey 100. It cost PS200 more than its closest competitor. Ken Richardson (racing car engineer) first tested the car. He was not happy with its speed. The engine was later modified by Richardson, who made the TR6.

The TR5 was the predecessor and was built on a Michelotti body. It was then updated by Karmann, Germany. The 2.5-liter inline-6 motor produced about 100 horsepower and 143 foot-feet of torque. The car felt sporty and powerful, while the transmission was responsive and smooth. The car is solid and has a well-built undercarriage. However, it does not have the huge rubber bumper guards.

Lotus 7

The Lotus Seven British sport car was first introduced to the marketplace in 1957. It was a lightweight sportscar with a spaceframe chassis and stressed aluminum panel. Lotus designed and sold the car as a kit, with no concessions made for passenger comfort. This British sports car was designed to be low-cost, perform well, and use readily-available parts. The Lotus 7 became a symbol of British performance.

The Series 1 Seven had fibreglass-flared wings on the front. These wings acted as fairy wings and were guaranteed to lift at high speeds. This lightweight sports car was built for speed. It also featured a Coventry Climax FWA SOHC engine. This engine became the Lotus 1C. It is a classic Lotus sports car. The Lotus 7 was awarded numerous design awards for aerodynamics. Series 4 is a unique design that has stood the test.

FAQ

What is the difference?

They are both similar, but not identical. The mechanic fixes cars while the technician maintains them.

A mechanic should be able to do simple tasks quickly and have good manual dexterity. They should be able to accurately diagnose problems and repair them efficiently.

An automotive technician must be more technically proficient than a mechanic. They need to be able use tools such drills and wrenches, and read blueprints.

They should be able safely to perform complex procedures. They need to be familiar with various types of engines and electrical system.

They should also be able understand how different parts interact.

As a result, mechanics typically make less than technicians. But there are many opportunities for both jobs.

What does it matter which college I attend?

Non, really. There's no difference between colleges regarding getting into the automotive industry. You will find that some schools offer better programs than others. If you are looking for something more specific, consider going to another school.

What qualifications do you need to be a truck-mechanic?

Although you don’t have formal qualifications, you have extensive experience with engines and trucks. You are a valuable asset as you can quickly diagnose and solve problems efficiently.

Also, your knowledge of diesel technology will be a benefit as you can help us understand which parts are needed for our vehicles.

What length is an automotive mechanic apprenticeship?

An automotive mechanic apprenticeship takes around three years to complete. This includes two year at school as well as two years as an apprenticeship. The first year of training is spent in the trade. This includes theory and practical skills as well as safety procedures. You'll also learn how tools can be used safely and efficiently during this year. After you have completed the first year of training, you will be able to spend an additional year on-the job learning different trades. These are also the times you can attend formal courses.

The final year of the program is spent gaining qualifications and becoming certified in the field. These include NVQs or National Vocational Qualifications. These are earned after passing exams that cover specific topics in the industry. In addition, there are HNCs (Higher National Certificates) that cover general subjects such as management, business administration, and customer service. For those interested in pursuing certain trades, City & Guilds certificates are available.

How long is an automotive course?

An automotive course is three years long.

The first year is spent on theory, learning all about cars. The second year is spent on practical training where you learn how to drive, fix engines, and do other mechanical jobs around the car. The last year is spent at a local shop, where you will get practical experience with real-world problems.

Is it worth being a mechanic.

This question is dependent on your life goals. If you are looking to make money, then yes. But if meaning and purpose is what you seek, then no.

It's not worth learning mechanics if you don’t have the skills. You'll waste your time. It's not going make you millionaire. It's unlikely that you will be famous. It is unlikely that you will be made famous.

This would require you to spend many years learning how to properly do everything. Then you'd still have to pay someone else to fix your car when it breaks down. Most people avoid doing this. They find something they enjoy instead.

You can make a lot of money if you are looking to do well. But if you want to live a meaningful life, stay away from the mechanic's industry.

How To

How to become an automotive technician

An automotive technician provides repair services and maintenance to vehicles. He/she works in car dealerships as well as auto shops, garages, and service centers. He/she assists customers in fixing their cars, trucks or motorcycles. An automotive technician must have the ability to quickly diagnose and fix problems.

An associate degree from a vocational school is required for anyone who wishes to become an automotive technician. After completing this program the student must pass the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence exam (ASE). ASE stands in for American Society of Mechanical Engineers. The ASE certification test consists of two sections. The first section tests the ability to use mechanical knowledge. The second section tests the ability to apply practical skills. You will need to attend an authorized testing site in order to pass the test. These locations can be found online, or by contacting your local car dealer.

A candidate must pass the state exam after passing the test to become an automotive technician. This process is different depending on where you live. Some states require that applicants attend a training class, while others allow them freedom to study at their own pace. Some states require technicians to be licensed immediately upon receiving their license. Other states wait until they have been employed as automotive technicians for at least six month.

A person must apply to an auto dealership in order to get started as an automobile technician. Most new employees begin as apprentices once they are hired. Apprenticeships typically last three years. During this time, a student learns how to perform basic repairs, such as changing oil, adjusting brakes, replacing tires, cleaning spark plugs, inspecting engine compartments, and performing routine maintenance. Some students learn how to do advanced repairs, such as installing air filters, replacing shocks, repairing engines, and replacing transmission fluids. Many schools offer classes during normal business hours. Some schools also offer evening classes, if necessary.

After completing an apprenticeship, a student becomes a journeyman. Journeymen typically spend four to five years learning how to install major systems, such as transmissions, differentials, steering gear, suspensions, and drive shafts. They are also taught how to troubleshoot electrical components and remanufacture engines. Many employers prefer to hire Journeymen because they understand the job well.

If a candidate successfully passes the required exams and receives a license, he/she might want to consider starting his/her own shop. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics in 2010, nearly 1.7 Million automotive mechanic jobs were available. This number was expected increase 18% between 2009 - 2020. Candidates who decide to open their own business should be prepared to invest thousands in equipment and supplies.

Automotive technicians' salaries depend on many factors such as the employer, whereabouts, education level and experience. An average salary for a jobless individual is $20,000 per annum. A high school diploma is all that's required to earn approximately $21,000 annually. Earnings for those with an associate's diploma are approximately $24,000/year. Technicians with bachelor's degrees earn approximately $27,000 per year. The average annual salary for those with master's degrees was $32,000. A common trend is for salary increases to occur so a professional making less than $30,000 can reasonably expect to be earning $40,000 or more within a few years.
