1967 Chevrolet Chevy II Nova

The Chevrolet II/Nova has been produced in five generations, from 1962 to 1998. The 1967 model, which was the last year of the second-generation Chevrolet II/Nova, was a restoration project that took place in 2012. The vehicle is now a legitimate retro muscle car. Power comes from a GM 6.0L LS-2 crate-engine rated at 400 horses, with a mildly performance cam and tube heads. A 6-speed Tremec automatic transmission sends torque to rear wheels via a GM positraction difference with an 8.5” ring. This makes it a powerful driving machine with its HD axles.

Chevrolet offered four power ratings in 1962 for its 2.3L small block engine, the 327 ci. The base model produced 250 HP at 4,400 RPM and 350 lb.ft. torque at 2,800 RPM. Furthermore, this small block engine was 100 pounds lighter than big-block Chevys, earning it the nickname "Mighty Mouse" among hot-rodders.

FAQ

What are the requirements of an auto technician?

You must have high school, or GED, and be able to read and write well in English and math. You must also be able to read, and write. After passing a written test, you will need to complete a series of practical tests before you are allowed to begin working.

Is it worth learning to be a mechanic?

This question is dependent on your life goals. If you are looking to make money, then yes. But if meaning and purpose is what you seek, then no.

If you don’t have any mechanical skills, it’s pointless to get into it. It will just waste your time. You won't become rich from it. It's unlikely that you will be famous. And it's unlikely to change your life.

This would require you to spend many years learning how to properly do everything. Then you'd still have to pay someone else to fix your car when it breaks down. That's why most people don't bother doing it at all. They find something they enjoy instead.

You can make a lot of money if you are looking to do well. If you are looking for a fulfilling life, however, then stay clear of the mechanics' industry.

How long is an apprenticeship for an automotive mechanic?

A three-year apprenticeship in automotive mechanics takes. This includes two years at school and two years working as an apprentice. The first year is spent learning all aspects of the trade, including theory, practical skills, and safety procedures. You'll also learn the safe and efficient use of tools during this first year. After the completion of the first year, you will spend another year on the job training. Here you'll gain valuable experience in different trades. You'll have the opportunity to attend formal courses during these periods too.

The last year of the program is dedicated to gaining certification and qualifications in the field. These include NVQs or National Vocational Qualifications. These are earned after passing exams that cover specific topics in the industry. You can also get HNCs (Higher National Certificates), that cover subjects such as customer service, business administration, management, and business administration. City & Guilds certificates can be obtained for individuals who want to learn certain trades.

What qualifications are necessary to become a truck driver mechanic?

This job requires you to be a skilled mechanic, although you do not need any formal training. You are a valuable asset as you can quickly diagnose and solve problems efficiently.

Additionally, you have a solid knowledge of diesel technology that will enable you to determine what parts are necessary to repair our vehicles.

How To

How to be an Automotive Technician

An automotive technician provides repair services and maintenance to vehicles. He/she works at car dealerships, auto shops, garages, service centers, etc. He/she repairs cars, trucks, motorbikes and snowmobiles for customers. An automotive technician must know how to diagnose problems and perform repairs efficiently, safely, accurately, quickly, and correctly.

To become an automotive technician, a person must first earn an associate's degree from a vocational college. After completing this program the student must pass the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence exam (ASE). ASE stands to American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Two sections make up the ASE certification examination. The first section tests the ability to use mechanical knowledge. The second section tests the ability to apply practical skills. To pass the test, you will need to visit an authorized testing location. These testing sites can be found online and through your local dealer.

After passing the test, a candidate must pass a state examination before becoming licensed as an automotive technician. The process will vary depending on where an applicant lives. Some states require that candidates attend training courses, while others permit them to learn independently. Some states issue licenses to technicians as soon as they get their license. Others wait until they have worked at least six months as an automotive technician.

An applicant should apply to a local auto shop in order to start their career as an automotive technician. Most employees who are hired start as apprentices. Apprenticeships typically last three years. This is when a student can learn how to do basic repairs such as changing oil, adjusting brakes and replacing tires. Some students are taught how to repair engines and replace transmission fluids. Many schools offer classes during regular hours. However, there are some schools that offer evening classes for those who need them.

Once a student is done with his/her apprenticeship he/she can become a master journeyman. Journeymen spend typically four to five years learning to install major systems such as transmissions and differentials, steering gear, suspensions and drive shafts. They learn how to do complex repairs such as remanufacturing engines, rebuilding transmissives, and troubleshooting electronic components. Many employers prefer hiring journeymen because they know the job well and understand what the customer expects.

If a candidate successfully passes the required exams and receives a license, he/she might want to consider starting his/her own shop. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, nearly 1.7 million automotive mechanic jobs were available in 2010. This figure is expected to rise 18 percent between 2009-2020. Candidates who decide to open their own business should be prepared to invest thousands in equipment and supplies.

There are many factors that affect the salary of an automotive technician, such as where they live, their education and experience. A jobless person can expect to make $20,000 per year. A person with only a high-school diploma could make around $21,000 annually. Earnings for those with an associate's diploma are approximately $24,000/year. A technician with a bachelor's degree earned approximately $27,000 annually. A master's degree earns around $32,000 per a year. A common trend is for salary increases to occur so a professional making less than $30,000 can reasonably expect to be earning $40,000 or more within a few years.
